GLASTONBURY, CT – Integris Group, a leading member-owned medical professional liability insurance company, is announcing that President and Chairman, Dr. John Hornby, will be retiring from the practice of medicine as well as from his role on the Integris Group Board of Directors. His last day as President and Chairman will be October 31, 2023. Succeeding him will be Mark D’Agostino, MD, whose term begins on November 1, 2023.
“The impact that Dr. Hornby has had on this Company is unmistakable,” said Stephen J. Gallant, Chief Executive Officer of Integris Group. “His insights, leadership, and steadfast guidance have led Integris to many years of growth, from a footprint standpoint as well as through the constantly evolving benefits and comprehensive coverage provided to our member physicians.”
Dr. Hornby’s strong leadership stems from his vast and distinguished career as an ophthalmologist. After graduating from St. Francis College in Brooklyn, NY he went on to receive his medical degree from Georgetown University Medical School. Dr. Hornby is board certified in Ophthalmology, and was a Senior Attending at Middlesex Memorial Hospital in Middletown, CT, as well as a Senior Attending at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital in New London, CT. He maintained a successful private practice in Old Saybrook, CT for many years. He joined the Integris Group (then CMIC) Board of Directors in 2006 and has been President and Chairman since 2017. He also served as Vice President of the Integris RRG Board of Directors.
“On behalf of the Company, I want to express our gratitude for Dr. Hornby’s decades of dedicated service to our policyholders and wish him all the best in his well-deserved retirement,” said Mr. Gallant. “We look forward to continuing his legacy of strategic growth, with a central focus on supporting our physician members, in the years to come.”
Dr. Mark D’Agostino was elected President and Chairman by the Integris Group Board of Directors at the September Board Meeting. He has been serving on the Integris (and prior to that CMIC) Board of Directors since 2009. Formerly the Treasurer of the Board, and Chair of the Finance and Audit Committee, he was also a member of the Governance, Claims, and Executive Committees.
“Dr. D’Agostino brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the President and Chairman role,” said Mr. Gallant. “His longevity with the Company, as both a policyholder and a Board Member, combined with his strategic vision for the future, makes him the ideal person to lead Integris in our continued expansion.”
Dr. D’Agostino graduated from the University of Health Sciences/The Chicago Medical School in 1989. He is board certified in otolaryngology/head and neck surgery and sleep medicine, and practices at Southern New England ENT and Facial Plastic Surgery Group in Middletown and New Haven.
